These K9 equipment testimonials come straight from the law enforcement agencies, military units, and donors that Project Paws Alive (PPAK9) has worked with since 2012. Every review is real, posted publicly by the reviewer on GreatNonprofits.org. They show what donor-funded ballistic vests, trauma kits, NARCAN kits, cooling vests, and vehicle heat alarms actually mean to the working K9s who wear them and the handlers who depend on them.

K9 Equipment Testimonials From the Field

K9 Max, Sheriff’s Office, trauma kit – D. Dickerson

K9 Max of the Williamson County Sheriff's Office beside his patrol vehicle

Project Paws Alive is an amazing organization supporting our Sheriff’s Office K9 partners. Their K9 trauma kit is a critical piece of equipment desperately needed by K9 handlers but is not something most departments can afford. Now Max has a K9 first aid kit to help keep him safe while on duty.

Memorial gift, embroidered vests – JANERHEN

K9 wearing a vest honoring a donor's late husband, provided by Project Paws Alive

I wanted to donate to a K9 charity with a proven record who my financial advisor vetted for me. They were so sweet to deal with and made the donation process so easy. They kept me advised, sent pictures, and even set up an in-person meet and greet with all 5 dogs. I loved that I was able to embroider the protective vests with a message to honor my late husband and I. I highly recommend Project Paws Alive.

K9 Azzurri, Tustin PD, Officer Barrett – pattipete88

K9 Azzurri of the Tustin Police Department beside her patrol car and trauma kit

I contacted Project Paws Alive. This is K9 Azzurri of the Tustin PD. She is a brand new K9 and needed all of her equipment. They were amazing. Within 24 hours I had a community fundraiser going complete with web page and shareable links. Because of their hard work, within 48 hours Azzurri had enough for her vest and her trauma kit. Officer Barrett was amazed at the military grade trauma kit. None of this would be possible without the volunteers at Project Paws Alive giving me a nonprofit platform to fundraise with superior quality products.

K9 Danka: trauma kit, cooling vest, heat alarm – konabird

K9 Danka's patrol car with AceK9 vehicle heat alarm system installed by Project Paws Alive

Project Paws Alive sponsored a fundraiser for K9 Danka to provide protective K9 equipment for use while working. She received a military grade first aid field trauma kit, PCM cooling vest, and an AceK9 vehicle heat alarm system which was installed in her working vehicle. They made this possible for us and we are so grateful to Project Paws Alive to receive the donations and supply K9 Danka all of the equipment listed in the fundraiser. What a great organization.

Southern Pines PD, heat alarm systems, K9 save – National Association of Police Organizations

K9 Heat Alarm Pro temperature display showing cabin temperature readings

Southern Pines PD was in dire need of heat alarm systems and some other K9 gear. Project Paws Alive and their wonderful supporters were able to provide everything at a cost of almost $20,000. The vehicle heat alarm systems are very expensive and cost almost $3,000 to install. Just a few days after the system was installed, I arrived to go into court and the temperature was fine. Shortly thereafter I received an alert that the car was getting too hot to be safe. I was able to leave and get my K9 out in time. I cannot express my gratitude enough to PPA for this life saving system. Being a small department, we don’t have funds for these critical items. We are so grateful for their support and this equipment that will protect our K9s for many years.

K9 Grim, Martin County Sheriff’s Office (KY), heat alarm save – Deputy_Patrick

K9 Grim of the Martin County Sheriff's Office wearing his Project Paws Alive protective vest

Can’t thank Project Paws Alive enough. We needed over $20,000 worth of K9 equipment for our K9 and we didn’t know how to do it. Our county’s budget barely covers the Sheriff’s Office salaries. We were about to consider shutting down our K9 unit, which would have been a great loss for our county. One of our supporters mentioned Project Paws Alive. Not only did they get K9 Grim all the protective equipment he needs on daily patrol, but they also helped us outfit our SUV with a brand new cage insert system and a top line ACEK9 vehicle heat alarm and monitoring system. Days after getting our SUV back from the installer, the vehicle heat alarm went off while Grim was in the truck. I was alerted immediately and was able to come out of the courthouse quickly enough to get him out. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is forever grateful to this wonderful organization for helping us continue our K9 unit and protect our K9 officer while he continues to serve and protect our community.

The Thomson GA Police K9 Unit is extremely grateful for the efforts of the Project Paws Alive team, who worked tirelessly to fund raise to provide K9 Fredy and K9 Fidgy with ballistic vests. The vests are $1,400 each and are bulletproof and stab proof. Now our K9 partners are protected just as we are while on duty. Our department did not have the funds for these vests due to the cost. Knowing our K9 partners now have the protection they need is priceless. We highly recommend PPA. They were great from start to finish.

Kilo and Taz are now protected thanks to Project Paws Alive. We could not get funding for these ballistic vests because they cost $1,400 each. Now these vests will keep them protected while on duty. They are both bullet and stab resistant vests that were custom fit per dog. They are very light and easy to use. Forever grateful to this organization for providing our K9s with protective vests like we have. All the best to this amazing group.

Military Working Dogs, deployed abroad, trauma kit in honor of SGT Collin J. Rose – Tim_38

Project Paws Alive has been awesome to work with and we greatly appreciate their support of Military Working Dogs. We would not be able to have this equipment to protect our dogs without them. Especially when deploying abroad, we need as much help as we can get to make sure our K9 partners are safe on duty.

More Reviews From Our Donors and Community

Tori

Project Paws Alive fundraised to purchase our K9 a ballistic vest. Without their help and support, our K9 would be without this lifesaving equipment. They were absolutely great to work with. They responded fast to our application and were very helpful with any questions we had. The funds for the vest were raised in 24 hours. It was truly unbelievable. We cannot thank and recommend them enough.

K9 Thor, ballistic vest – Coleton J.

I can’t begin to thank Project Paws Alive and the amazing donors enough. I was partnered with my K9 partner Thor in February 2020 and within 3 months was awarded a ballistic vest for his protection. Few people understand the true bond between a handler and their four legged partner. It was very important to me that Thor was protected each shift, and Project Paws Alive was able to quickly make that possible.

Memorial gift in lieu of flowers – Julie K.

After the loss of our loved one, we opted to have donations made to Project Paws Alive in lieu of flowers. I cannot adequately convey my appreciation to them for being so incredibly kind and compassionate to us during such a difficult time. They were in constant communication with us about incoming donations made in memory of our loved one, for which we are forever grateful.

coffeeandk9s

Great organization doing great things for these amazing K9s who risk their lives daily.

K9 Shark, Lewistown MT PD, ballistic vest – SharkCop

Project Paws Alive supplied the Lewistown, Montana Police Department with one of their ballistic vests for our K9, Shark. The vest fits amazingly and is utilized for high risk deployments.

Corporate veterinary hospital partner – krismiss7

As a corporately owned veterinary hospital, we chose Project Paws Alive as our “pet project.” They are a wonderful organization and their work is so important to the well-being of K9s, as well as law enforcement in general. The staff was wonderful to work with and we will definitely work with them again in the future. If you support our police and military, then support Project Paws Alive.

Corporate giving campaign – Jody T.

Rarely is a charitable organization as up front about how much money they have raised, where it is going, and what they are doing with it. Working directly with, and having full support and guidance from, President and Co-Founder Cheryl Allen enabled us to partner with a local restaurant for a portion of their day’s receipts, pulling in just over $500, which for those unfamiliar with how much K9 protective gear costs, is a fraction of a ballistic and knife proof vest for a dog. With consistent high marks from charity monitors and nonprofit watchdogs, Project Paws Alive was an easy choice when it came time for our company to choose a worthwhile organization to raise money for as part of a corporate charity event.

Memorial gift in lieu of flowers – pa2021

I recently lost a loved one and decided to have donations go to Project Paws Alive in lieu of flowers. They were so very kind and compassionate, and kept me up to date with those who were kind enough to donate so I could send acknowledgements and thank you cards.

Corporate charity partner – Projectpaws01

Working with Cheryl Allen at Project Paws Alive was an incredible experience for me and the Sheriff’s Department. Cheryl and her team responded very quickly to my proposal and the department’s need. She guided us through the fundraising process and provided us with a platform within days to obtain much needed K9 protective equipment. PPA was efficient and communicative. Our relationship was seamless, and I could not recommend Cheryl and her organization more. Her commitment to protecting the needs of K9 service animals, especially in this climate of reduced funding in law enforcement, is outstanding.

The only thing I can really say about this organization is that they are simply amazing. Their mission and what they do for the K9s is extraordinary and so vital. I have been a proud supporter for about a year now and will continue to support their mission. I encourage everyone to consider making a donation and help get every K9 the protection they deserve.
